Missing Plug For 110v ToolUpdated 8 hours ago
Customers occasionally contact us regarding 110V tools being supplied without a fitted plug. In most cases, this relates to higher-powered equipment, typically above 1600W.
Heavy-duty 110V tools are often supplied with a bare cable rather than a pre-fitted plug, as the appropriate power connection can vary depending on the tool's electrical requirements and the intended working environment.
Power Supply Requirements
Higher-powered 110V equipment may require either a 16A or 32A power connection, depending on its current demand. Fitting an incorrectly rated plug may result in an unsuitable connection and could lead to overloading of the power supply equipment.
Site and Application Requirements
Different working environments may utilise a variety of transformers, extension leads and socket configurations. Supplying equipment with a bare lead allows a suitably qualified person to fit the most appropriate connector for the intended application and available power supply.
General Guidance
- Tools up to approximately 1,750W at 110V are typically suitable for connection to a 16A supply.
- Tools above approximately 1,750W at 110V may require a 32A supply and appropriately rated cabling.
Important Information
Before selecting or fitting a plug, always refer to the tool's technical specifications and electrical rating. The correct connector and supply arrangement should be determined by the equipment's rated current and the characteristics of the available power source. Where there is any uncertainty, installation should be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician or competent person.
